Lizzie Esther Wins Student Emmy for Short Film

Lizzie EstherLHWHS senior Lizzie Esther was recently recognized at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Mid-America Regional Emmy Awards as a student Emmy award-winner in the Writing category.

Lizzie's film, "The Forgotten Leftovers of Meaningful Things," was inspired by Lizzie's passion for painting and a faraway pen pal relationship.

She was the only St. Louis student Emmy winner out of a five-state region for her film.

Lizzie was joined by her mother Ellen, brother James, and LHWHS Broadcast Technology teacher Don Goble at a black tie gala event on Saturday, Sept. 30 in Branson, Mo.

The gala was attended by professional journalists as well, as they learned if their news broadcasts and stories would be recognized as Emmy winners.

Lizzie is only the second Broadcast Technology student to be recognized with this award; LHWHS alumna Sandra Salib was a winner in 2022.
