LHWHS Students Earn High Marks at Regional Math Competition

Ladue Horton Watkins High School students were among the top scorers at the Excellence in Mathematics Competition on Nov. 5 at St. Louis Community College – Forest Park.

More than 40 schools from Missouri and Illinois participated, as students competed only against others in their grade.

The competition included both individual and team awards; a team was made up of a school’s top four combined scorers at each grade level.

In the 12th-grade competition, Edward Zhang won first place overall and a $500 scholarship.

In the 11th-grade competition, Cindy Yan earned second place overall and Kevin Tang earned fifth place.

In the 9th-grade competition, LHWHS students earned the top four scores as Aaron Lin led the way with a perfect score.

Alex Wang finished in second place, Jason Shi finished third, and David Zhang finished fourth.

The four freshmen combined to win first place in the 9th grade team competition and earned the highest score of any team in the competition across all grade levels.
